A RECOGNIZED VOICE…
Michelle Roman is a recognized voice in human trafficking prevention, nonprofit leadership, and corporate engagement in human rights. For more than a decade, her work has focused on bringing the nonprofit and private sectors together to address complex social issues and create meaningful change.
Michelle built the private sector engagement strategy at ECPAT-USA, now PACT, from the ground up, working directly with major hospitality and travel companies to strengthen their response to human trafficking and child exploitation. She developed and launched industry-wide human trafficking training for hotel employees and meeting professionals and advised companies on policies, procedures, training, and prevention strategies.
Her expertise has brought her before the White House, the World Economic Forum, the Institute of Medicine, and other national and international audiences. Her work has been featured by CNN, The New York Times, Thomson Reuters, Forbes, and other publications.
Today, Michelle serves as an expert witness in human trafficking cases involving the hospitality industry, drawing on her specialized experience with hotel industry standards, trafficking indicators, employee training, policies, and response protocols.
Michelle has received numerous industry honors, including recognition from BizBash, MeetingsNet, MeetGreen, Connect Association, Northstar Meetings Group, and PCMA. She previously served on the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Advisory Committee on Human Trafficking and the Global Business Travel Association’s Women’s Travel Safety Task Force.
